All Double gates are fabricated using 40mm square hollow section for the framework, with 16mm diameter solid round bar for the uprights, 40mm x 10mm solid flat bar for horizonal rails and 20mm x 6mm solid flat bar for both circle and
scroll details. There are a variety of finials, basket, collars, circles, scrolls etc. available to choose from. All of which can be mixed and matched, on all our gate designs.
All double gates are fitted with a slam bar, to keep the gates secure when in the closed position. All welding is to be done on the underside of the rails where possible, to ensure an aesthetic appearance. Moneygaff Metalwork takes care to adjust the upright spacing so that the exact
number of whole gaps between the vertical bars is achieved, at a nominal 100mm
width.
Note: Other spacing of the rails other than 100mm can be produced, but our standard spacing is based on building regulations for the guarding of stairs. Document K1 1998 paragraphs 1.28 “along side drops greater than 600mm” and should prevent children being held fast by the guarding (i.e. getting their heads stuck between the rails).
As standard, all gates (unless automated) will be fitted with a set of drop bolts (one on each gate leaf) and a sliding lock. This sliding lock will be fabricated to facilitate a padlock, if required. Other locks/latches/drop bolt designs can be fitted, however these maybe at an additional cost.
